What do you do when the oven door is locked shut?
Leave it: after a self-clean the lock holds until the oven cools, and forcing it can damage the latch. Still locked once cold is a job for a visit. Viking Repair Redmond, (425) 585-2373.

Check, in this order

Look at the display or lamps: is a clean still running or counting down?
pass still running: let it finish; the lock is doing its job fail finished or cancelled: go to step 2

Leave the door shut and let the oven cool until the clean or lock light goes out.
pass light out and the door opens: done fail light out, door still shut: go to step 3

Photograph any code on the display before switching anything off.

Try the handle once, gently, with the oven cold; no tools and no levering.

On Viking’s VGSC306 self-clean gas range, the lock motor will not release the door above roughly 575°F, and the clean indicator stays lit until the oven drops below that. The service manual allows about 30 minutes after the clean ends for the latch to let go.
Electronic wall ovens report the lock by code. On the EOC4 control in the DSOE301SS, DDOE301SS and DDOE305SS, F01 means the lock is in the wrong position for the mode, and F07 means the door was open during a clean.
No prying, no knife in the gap and no switching the breaker off and on: a door opened that way leaves the fault in place.
Stop and call if
- The oven is stone cold and the door is still latched.
- A code shows and the oven will not heat in any mode.
