Which Viking controls show F3

F3, controller malfunction: sensor tests in range, so the thermostat timer or its wiring is next.

Two unrelated faults
On EOC4 ovens the fan cools the control area whenever the oven is on, and a sensor on it reports its speed to the board.
Reaching the fan means sliding the oven out, so the checks stop at listening.
On the VGSO166, F3 comes only after the tests behind F1 and F2 have cleared the oven sensor.
Stop and call if
- F3 or F03 shows up during a self-clean.
- Hot plastic or burning smells come from the controls.
- The code returns the moment power is back.

Is F03 about the fan that runs after cooking?
Same fan, different story. F03 means the EOC4 control has lost the fan's speed signal, so it cancels the cycle and turns the elements off. A fan that keeps running once you have finished cooking, with no code showing, is a separate reading.
Does F3 mean a new control board?
Not automatically. On the VGSO166 the manual only condemns the thermostat timer when its bake, broil or convection output is missing with the sensor already proven good; if the output is there, the wiring is checked instead. Viking Repair Redmond, (425) 585-2373, runs those tests on one $89 visit.
